Binding with a dust jacket

A dust jacket is an additional, removable paper cover that wraps around a rigid binding - usually cloth or plain bookbinding paper, so the cover board itself can be cheaper, since all the visual and marketing "weight" is carried by the jacket.

Half-bound and quarter-bound - combining materials
